Students ‘ACE’ their studies to achieve bursaries for third level
STUDENTS from St Aidan’s Community School, Mount Seskin Community College and Killinarden Community School were presented with ACE bursaries last Friday.
The ACE (Access College Education) bursaries were presented to the diligent learners by Colm Brophy TD in St Aidan’s.
Parents and teachers from the three schools attended, as well as current ACE students, and all were welcomed by the principal of St Aidan’s, Kevin Shortall.
“The students succeeded in gaining a place in a Higher Education college having followed the Access College Education (ACE) programme,” said Eamonn Nolan, coordinator of ACE.
“The students had committed to extra classes, after-school study, language supports, etc, with the aim of achieving their ambition to go to college.
“The ACE programme has run in the three schools for over twenty years and is funded by the Department of Education. ACE is partnered with TUD and UCD.
“The success of the students in realising their ambition is important for them in achieving the career they aim for.
“It is important for the schools and communities also – these students have become role models.”
