Students from Youthreach celebrate their graduations
By Maurice Garvey
STUDENTS from CDETB Crumlin Youthreach celebrated their graduation during a ceremony on July 7.
There were 12 full Level 4 QQI awards presented, along with further awards at levels 4 and 5 presented to students who had come to the end of Year 1 of the two-year programme.
All graduating students have their places for PLC courses in place for September, having completed the QQI Award in General Learning, and are going in a variety of directions, including pre-university science, sports management, pre-paramedics, business, writing, and graphic design.
Angelique Kelly, Coordinator at Crumlin Youthreach said: “The graduation was a successful event and there was a tangible sense of pride and achievement from both staff and students.
“Crumlin Youthreach has a limited number of places available for the course starting September 2016. Youthreach is a wonderful alternative route to college for those who have not passed a Leaving Certificate.”
Kelly has concerns that people may have a negative view of Youthreach service users, but says the programme has successfully helped young people to progress to college for years.
“They are a great bunch of young people,” said Mrs Kelly.
A wide range of modules are available at Crumlin Youthreach, including Communications, Mathematics, IT, Cooking, Kitchen Skills, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Woodwork, and programmes for personal development.
Crumlin Youthreach welcomes applications from those living Dublin 12 and beyond.
