Summer Events at Castletymon Library for people of all ages
The free events at Castletymon library have something for everyone this summer. The lineup of events is full to the brim and promises to entertain people of all ages.
Some of the events offered include guided local history talks which feature as a part of National Heritage Week, DJ workshops with Music Generation, and even an end of summer party on August 26.
Additionally, the traditional Tymon sessions are set to resume on August 30 and will occur once a month through the Christmas season. Anyone is encouraged to attend to listen to the music provided, drink a cup of tea, and even perform their own party piece if they feel so inclined.
Speaking about library events happening weekly, Senior Librarian at Castletymon Library Sarah Elaine McHugh commented: “Summer sees the continuation of regular library activities including our popular parent and toddler sessions (every Wednesday at 10.30am) and our wonderful Castletymon Crafters (every Thursday morning from 10am) where you are invited to bring your wool, knitting needles or crochet hooks and have the chats in a friendly space in the library.
“Our inclusive STEAM sessions for children with additional needs takes place monthly with information and booking available through the Castletymon Library Eventbrite page.”
These weekly events will be complemented by one-off events, such as a concert paying homage to the songs of Christy Moore and Nanci Griffith performed by Tom Murphy and Sarah Elaine.
Later in August, Dave’s Jungle will stop by to provide a day full of entertainment via a showcase of exotic reptiles and spiders as well as a coding workshop for Pokemon that promises to be the perfect blend of fun and learning.
John Mullen’s wonderful exhibitions about the history of Tallaght will remain on display until early September, and are also completely free to view and experience.
