SKETCH PROPOSALS for the new swimming pool in Lucan will be presented to the Lucan Area Committee in the last quarter of this year.

The news was disclosed at this month’s Lucan Area Committee meeting of South Dublin County Council on foot of a question tabled by Councillor Liona O’Toole.

Cllr O’Toole asked the CEO “to confirm the status of the feasibility study for the Lucan swimming pool programme application, including what stage it’s at, and when it’s expected to be completed.

To also advise this committee what the next step is in the process?”

The council replied that work is continuing on a number of fronts to advance the swimming pool project “within the available resources and as part of an overall plan to deliver a large number of key infrastructural projects.”

They stated that the procurement route for appointment of the Design Team has been approved and that work is progressing on the finalisation of the tender documentation for the Design Team for the pool and it is planned that these invitations will be published in the near future.

The council stated that the design team will be appointed within the next month.

The council added: “The first task they will be assigned will be to carry out a full cost-benefit analysis on the differentconfigurations with a view to finalising the approach to be taken by the third quarter of this year.

“As soon as this work has been satisfactorily completed, details will be presented, including sketch proposals to this Area Committee in the last quarter of this year.

“The council is also maintaining contact with the Department of Sport to ensure that they are fully up to date with the Council’s planning and delivery process.”
