Tallaght athletes collect medals at Dublin Juvenile Championships

TALLAGHT AC athletes added more medals to the previous weekends haul at the final day of the Dublin Juvenile Championships which were held on home ground last Saturday.

Beauty Ikpefua won the U15 Hammer and Discus titles with throws of 16.02 and 19.79 respectively, while Abdullahi Adeleke, younger brother of the National multiple sprint record holder Rhasidat, won silver in the U15 100m (12.16) and later added bronze in the 200m (25.09), while Leonard Deering secured his second silver medal of the Championships when finishing 2nd in the U14 1500m in a good time of 4:48.87.

Kamal Oresayna was another who performed well on the day, finishing 5th in the U15 100m final (12.78) and 4th in the 200m final with a time of 26.27.

Others who performed well in the sprint heats on the day included, Ethan Dooley and Aliou Coulibaly in the 60m U12, Rosie Mooney U13 80m, Deborah Adesoye U14 80m, Olivia Groome, Beauty Ikpefua and Sophia Hayes U15 100m, while Orlath Furlong contested the U14 1500m.

There was further success for the club at the Dublin Relay Championships the previous day and a few days earlier in Lucan where Gloria Oigbochie, Emani Espogba, Joanna Shodido and Ellie Carruth combined to win silver in the U17 4X100m relay final (51.23) and the same combination topped the podium in the U18 4X100m final (52.91).

Another member of the relay squad Olivia Tyrrell was unavailable on the evenings but will join them at the National finals in July.
