Tallaght man accused of IRA membership refused bail at Special Criminal Court
A Tallaght man accused of IRA membership was refused bail at the Special Criminal Court today.
Kevin Braney, with an address at Glenshane Crescent, Tallaght, and his co-accused Ciaran Maguire (29) of Kippure Park are charged with membership of an unlawful organisation.
An investigation into ongoing dissident republican activity led to Mr Braney’s arrest last week.
Gardai objected to the bail application on a number of grounds.
One of the reasons given was they felt there was a concern for the safety of witnesses.
Justice Tony Hunt said there was no hesitation in refusing the bail application.
Mr Braney was remanded in custody until October 5, when his case is to be listed for mention again.
Mr Maguire also appeared in court today but no bail application was made.
He was remanded in custody until August 31, when his case is to be listed for mention again
