Tallaght to host second WSAF European competition

Tallaght will be hosts of the second WSAF European Junior, Youth, Cadet and Senior European Competition on 27th & 28th July.

This historic event will take place in Tallaght Leisure Centre.

Ireland were awarded as host nation in 2022 by the World Sport Aikido Federation panel making this the first ever competition to be held in Ireland.

A momentous occasion for all involved but particularly Dublin Tomiki Aikido who have been at the forefront of competitive aikido over the last decade and have competed internationally in Australia, Belgium, London, Leeds, San Diego and Japan.

As team Ireland they have taken gold, silver and bronze medals in every age range from Juniors to Adults.

Dublin Tomiki Aikido based in Belgard Community Centre is run by Keith McClean (5th Dan) and Pamela Dempsey (3rd Dan) and is long established in the community, thanks to the drive and commitment from Keith and Pam are now recognized on the world stage as well.

Keith and Pam have travelled all over the world as competitors and coaches, finally culminating in bringing a competition to our shores for the first time in history.

This event will take place over two days and have competitors from across Europe take part, from aged 6 to 60.

Sport Aikido has several events in competition, ranging from Kata (demonstration with two persons) to our Randori (Our individual fighting bouts) Not only have Keith and Pam secured the first ever competition for Ireland they have brought together players from across the Island together to compete as one National Team – the first of its kind here.

With all eyes on Dublin ahead of the competition, Team Ireland are determined, focused and ready to put in performances worthy of more medals.
