Tattoo Day fundraiser in aid of local mental health support group HOPE
A TATTOO day in aid of a local suicide awareness group will take place this Friday, April 7, in St Aengus’s Community Centre in Tymon from 9am until 9pm, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.
The fundraiser is in aid of local mental health support service HOPE (Hold On Pain Eases) which is located in Courthouse Square in Tallaght and operates a drop-in listening service.
As the group receives no government funding, fundraisers like the tattoo day are instrumental in allowing the service to continue to support those who are struggling with their mental health.
Patrick Fay, who is one of the organisers of the tattoo day, told The Echo: “People are [dying by suicide], and it’s something that touches a lot of people.
“HOPE give a lot of help to people who are suicidal or those who have to deal with things after a suicide.”
The fundraiser, however, promises to be an uplifting day where tea, coffee and cakes will be served both for people who are and are not getting tattoos.
A raffle will also be held on the day in aid of HOPE. For more information visit @tattooday2 on Facebook.
HOPE can be contacted via phone on 089 610 5476, or by messaging the HOPE Suicide Prevention Centre Tallaght Facebook page.
