TCC announce 9th annual Tallafest festival virtually
Tallaght Community Council (TCC) is excited to announce the 9th Annual Tallafest, which will take place from June 24 to July 19.
This year due to Covid-19 restrictions TCC be hosting the festival virtually for the second year due to the ongoing Covid-19 public health restrictions impacting events in Ireland.

This Summer, TCC is again encouraging the community to celebrate Tallaght’s urban and rural heritage, arts and culture differently, in a safe and interactive way embracing photos and video and social media.
Tara De Buitlear, Voluntary PRO of TCC and Tallafest Director, said: “This is our 9th year of Tallafest, and it is the community’s opportunity to celebrate the very best of Tallaght, town and country collectively and creatively.
“Despite not being able to do that in a large festival format again this year, we can still get creative, get positive and showcase the best of our hometown, Tallaght, virtually.
“After 2020, we all love and appreciate Tallaght outdoors so here is our opportunity to show it”
TCC is continuing to work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the AWS InCommunities team on Tallafest 2021, making this the third year AWS is supporting the community event in a significant way.

Mike Beary, Country Manager, AWS Ireland, said: “We are delighted to work once again with the volunteers of Tallaght Community Council on their annual Tallafest event this Summer.
“This year’s event may be taking place virtually, but it will be no less exciting or creative, and we have no doubt it will deliver the feel-good factor we have all come to expect with Tallafest. AWS has been a proud member of the Tallaght community for more than 10 years, and we remain committed to supporting the citizens of this vibrant town.”
Tallafest 2021 will deliver on enabling the community to capture and enjoy our heritage using different creative means. It will include 3 elements this Summer, through video, poetry, the written word and creative community participation.
A Creative Competition – Show us your Favourite Spot in Tallaght Outdoors. To help create a wonderful online gallery celebrating Tallaght for Tallafest 21, TCC is asking you to find your favourite spot outdoors in Tallaght – and share it.
This may be watching wildlife in a quiet corner of your local park, your favourite fishing spot by a river or stream, training with your team mates on your sports pitch, your running route, coffee haunt or indeed relaxing in the sunny spot of your garden.
Capture it in a photo or short video, then share it on social media between June 24 and the July 19, tagging Tallaght Community Council, with the hashtag #LoveTallaghtOutdoors2021.
There are three amazing family hampers on offer for the best three favourite spots submitted, valued at almost €400 each.
Get as creative as you wish capturing your favourite spot!
The prize hampers include,
- ● An Amazon Fire Tablet
- ● A voucher for Peachtree East for a family dinner for 4
- ● A voucher for a family coffee break in The Edge
- ● A Tallaght heritage map and a Tallaght community flag – limited collections.
- ● A selection of books written by Tallaght authors Eamon Maloney, Michael Whelan, Albert Perris and Michael Finn.
As well as this creative competition, Tallafest 21 will also produce two new heritage assets for Tallaght and the wider community.
TCC are producing a new eBook called Love Tallaght outdoors the Series 2021 and a new video showcasing Tallaght and our heritage. Both will celebrate our rich culture, landscape and history using local talented artists and will be a treat for the senses. They will be launched for all to enjoy in July.
