Teen accused of sexually assaulting two females
A TEENAGER accused of sexually assaulting two females has been remanded by Tallaght Court for a Section 75 hearing.
The offences are alleged to have occurred at his home in Tallaght over a six-month period.
The 17-year-old, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with four counts of sexually assaulting a female between October 2016 and March 2017 at his address in Tallaght.
He is also charged with four counts of sexually assaulting another female at his address in Tallaght also on dates between October 2016 and March 2017.
The teenager was accompanied by his mother in court.
The DPP had previously directed trial on indictment.
The case was before Judge Patricia McNamara for a Section 75 hearing under the Childrens Act on whether the teenager is mature enough to be dealt with in the Circuit Court.
There was no Solicitor from the DPP in court. She had been in the court earlier but could not be found.
Sergeant Eithne Madden at first said that she could give a summary of the alleged facts.
The teenager’s counsel, Shane Manus Quinn Bl, said he had a civilian witness, a teacher, who could give evidence on behalf of the teenager.
The case went to second calling.
When the case was recalled, Sgt Madden said she would prefer if the Solicitor from the DPP was present to give a summary of the allegations as they were “very complex”.
Mr Manus Quinn said he would prefer if the Section 75 hearing was heard in one block.
Judge MacNamara remanded the teenager on continuing bail for three weeks for the section 75 hearing.
