THE HSE have applied to Dublin City Council for permission to provide temporary accommodation units in Cherry Orchard Hospital – whilst works for a new ambulance base at Davitt Road are taking place.

The planning application seeks the provision of four single-storey interconnected prefabricated modular units spanning a total area 162 sq.m, comprising changing facilities, offices and stores, connecting to the existing ambulance service accommodation.

Plans also include a single-storey vehicular shelter/wash down facility structure, a new temporary vehicular access route, 16 staff parking bays, and 16 temporary ambulance parking spaces.

DCC planners have yet to make a decision on the temporary units in Cherry Orchard – but granted planning permission for the development of the new ambulance base to the rear of the former Unilever site at Davitt Road a month ago.

Proposals for the 1.29 hectare site in Davitt Road, consist of the construction of 1,600 sq.m building, 37 ambulance fleet vehicle parking bays, 40 car parking spaces, enclosed vehicle wash/motorcycle/bicycle structure, internal gates and landscaping areas.

Plans also include connections to the public water infrastructure, the creation of a new entrance to the site at Davitt Road, security gates, and associated site development and landscaping works.
