Terrified young dog abandoned outside off-licence in Clondalkin

A DOG was tied up and abandoned outside an off-licence in Clondalkin this week, but My Lovely Horse Rescue stepped in again to save the day.

The volunteer group say the “8- to 9-month-old baby girl” was tied to a door of a Carry Out off-licence in Clondalkin last Thursday, with “two young men seen running from the scene.”

“Poor little mite was terrified.

“Thankfully, the lovely guy working at the off-licence took her in.

“MLHR Sara got there quickly with her scanner to see if she was chipped and make sure she was safe for the night,” said a spokesperson.

MLHR took the Pocket Bully, whom they have called Eleanor, to see their vet at their rescue centre.

Most of MLHR’s work involves rescuing horses that have been abused and abandoned, but increasingly the group are helping dogs.

“We have never witnessed this amount of dogs needing serious help.

“We honestly have not got the room or resources for so many poor dogs but we will not ignore this awful situation,” said the group in a social media post.

The animal rescue centre should only have space for roughly 20 dogs on their farm, but now they have approximately 75 dogs in their care.

They ask for public help in volunteering, fundraising, foster care, adoptions.
