The boy who never grew up: Clondalkin Drama Group presents ‘Peter Panto’
The Clondalkin Drama Group is excited to present in January ‘Peter Panto’, their own original production about the boy who never grew up, reports Ryan Butler.
What’s not to love about this show?
It features pop music, pixies, and pirates.
According to Alan McNally, who wrote the show and will be directing it (and who will also be starring as Captain Hook), the group has been considering doing a Peter Pan panto for a “few years now.”.
The work involved in preparing for this production has consisted of learning lines and songs, as well as choreography, props, and costumes.
The group began working on the show since the script was finished in October – this is less time than usual for them to prepare, but the entire cast and crew have “really stepped up and put their all into making this a great show.”
Future plans for this group include a full-length straight show in May, which will be revealed after the panto, two one-act plays later this year, and another performance of their play ‘Bags and Browning’ this February in the Tallaght Theatre, along with a one-act play performed by the Tallaght Drama Group.
Alan would like to thank the committee for the group for giving him the go-ahead to write and direct the panto, the cast for working hard and making his job of directing easier, and their loyal audience members, as they are the reason the group performs, and Alan hopes “they enjoy seeing the show as much as we do performing it.”
