The Dry: Local actors star in second series of gripping drama

The vaunted comedy-drama show ‘The Dry’ has officially resumed filming for a second series and will feature a reprisal from actress Siobhán Cullen with a new appearance from celebrated actor Michael McElhatton, reports Steven Reid.

Siobhán Cullen, originally from Rathfarnham and past pupil of Loreto High School Beaufort, is slated to return to her role in the hit show as Caroline. She is known from her appearances in the RTÉ1 miniseries ‘Paula’ as well as spending time on the webseries ‘Origin’.

Hailing from Tenenure and studying acting at Tenenure College, Michael McElhatton is noteworthy for his work on the juggernaut series ‘Game of Thrones’ as Roose Bolton. Michael joins the series in its second edition as Finbar, a close friend to Bernie.

With an acting career spanning more than 30 years, Michael is sure to bring immense talent and expertise to both the cast and the show.

This second series will be available to stream exclusively on RTÉ1, RTÉ player and IVTX, while the first series remains available on RTÉ player and IVTX.

A spokesperson for the series said: “The storyline picks up seven months on from the events of the first series, and we now meet the Sheridans in their new normal. To all outward appearances, it seems like the family is relatively content: Shiv’s been sober, celibate, and solvent for six months, Ant has hung onto his job at the estate agents and his relationship with Max, and Caroline’s making up for a lost time by shagging everyone she meets on Tinder. So far, so normal… Or is it?”

A winner of numerous awards, the second installment of this series is described as: “An exciting chapter in the show’s ongoing development.” Filming for the show will be taking place in and around Dublin.
