Walsh, aged 43, with an address at Meile An Rí, Balgaddy, Lucan, pleaded guilty to stealing a Sharp TV worth €500 from Tesco, Liffey Valley, on August 3, 2019.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of vodka worth €12.99 from Lidl, Fonthill Retail Park, Clondalkin, on August 13, 2019.

Walsh also pleaded guilty to stealing two saucepan sets worth €120 from Home Store and More, Fonthill Retail Park on the above date.

Garda Denis Lordan told Judge McHugh that on August 13 last, Walsh walked into Lidl in the Fonthill Retail Park and selected a bottle of vodka worth €12.99 and left without paying for it.

Garda Lordan said Walsh then walked down to Home Store and More and took two saucepan sets worth €120.

Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told the court that on August 3 last, Walsh went into Tesco in Liffey Valley and took a Sharp tv worth €500 and walked out of the shop with it. She said the tv had not been recovered.

Sgt McManigan said Walsh had 42 previous convictions, four of which were for robbery and three were for theft.

She said Walsh was sentenced to nine months imprisonment on September 19 last in Blanchardstown Court for theft.

Walsh’s solicitor, John O’Doherty, said his client had grown up in the Neilstown area and had a lot of difficulties in his family. He said Walsh’s mother had passed away and he wasn’t released from prison to attend her funeral.

Judge McHugh sentenced Walsh to three months jail and ordered that it run consecutive on the nine-month sentence that Walsh is currently serving.
