Three people arrested following ‘drive-off’ incidents at petrol stations

THREE people were arrested and charged on Friday following ‘drive-off’ incidents from various petrol stations in West Dublin.

Following a day of action targeting persons involved in the theft of fuel from garages, Gardaí attached to the District Detective Unit in Clondalkin coordinated a search operation in the North, South and West Dublin areas.

A woman (40s) and two men (20s and 30s) were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Garda stations in Dublin.

They were later charged and appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday, September 8, 2023.

A statement released by gardai said: “Gardaí have arrested and charged three people following a day of action targeting persons involved in the theft of fuel from garages in Dublin.

“Gardaí attached to the District Detective Unit in Clondalkin coordinated a search operation in the North, South and West Dublin areas. The operation targeted persons suspected of being involved in approximately 60 separate incidents of ‘drive-off’ fuel thefts from various garages in West Dublin”.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing.
