TMA gain huge experience at Milan event

TALLAGHT Martial Arts fight Team was in action at the Points Fighter Cup in Milan Italy for the two day event which had 21 different countries with 926 entries from 88 clubs.

The TMA fight team won five gold medals with two silver medals and six bronze medals.

The on-form Jodie Browne won the Female Grand champion which saw the TMA fighter beat the current top female fighters on the fighting circuit in this open weight division after meeting some tough opponents on route to win the Senior female Grand Champion.

Additionally, Jodie also won third place in the senior female – 70kg section and Conor McGlinchey won the -89kgs senior men’s points fighting section with an outstanding performance to win the top spot on the podium.

Likewise Eoin Finn fighting in the older cadets (13-15 years) put in an incredible performance to secure first place in the -42kg section and 3rd place in the -47kg section.

Dara Kelly Clarke fighting in the older cadets -37kg had some tough competition on route to the final where he was matched against his TMA team mate Edward Comerford, which was a closely fought contest over the two rounds which ended in deadlock and required extra time which Dara emerged victorious.

Edward also won a bronze medal in the -42 kg section to go with his earned silver medal.

Amy Comerford displayed great skills to win gold medal in the – 28kg younger cadets (10-12 years) section.

Isabel Golding put in an incredible display in the younger cadets +47kg points fighting section to win a silver medal after some tough contest on route to the final.

Nicole Bannon put in a solid performance in the -60kg senior female points fighting section to secure a bronze medal.

Anna White fighting in the junior (16-18 years) female Grand Champion section won a well earned bronze medal in this tough open weight section, in addition Anna won bronze in the Junior female -60kg section.

This was great for the team to get exposure before the juniors go to the European Championships in August and seniors to the World championships in November.

It was also great preparation for Jodie Browne, Conor McGlinchey and Nicole Bannon before the go to the European Olympic Games to represent Ireland in Poland at the end of June.
