Tohill set for return to Euro stage

AFTER a dominant performance in the Irish Rallycross Championship, Derek Tohill will now turn his attention to the international front.

The Terenure man will take his OlsbergsMSE-built Fiesta into the closing two rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship in Barcelona (September 17 – 18) and Riga, Latvia (October 1-2).

Tohill is currently sitting 15th overall and may well prepare for his trip to Spain by lining out in the eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Loheac in France on September 3-4.

“The car needs a lot of work to try and ensure it’s quick and reliable for the remaining rounds of Euro RX,” stressed the Dubliner.

“Progress has been good throughout the year as we work for the future, and we’re looking to make a hat-trick of semi-finals for the season in Barcelona.

“If we compete at Loheac, it will simply be for additional seat time in a competitive environment on a great rallycross circuit. Of course, we will also enjoy racing again in front of 70,000 people,” he added.
