
Transport worker granted bail after €920,000 worth of drugs seized

A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been granted bail after he was charged in connection with a seizure of almost €920,000 worth of drugs in Clondalkin on Tuesday.
Transport worker Robert McGreevy with an address at St Peter’s Road, Greenhills, was remanded on bail to appear again in January for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to obtained.
Gardai seized 23 kilos of herbal cannabis in the grounds of an apartment in Clondalkin.
A follow-up search in an apartment resulted in a seizure of a kilogramme of heroin, 3.5kgs of cocaine and 10kgs of cannabis resin.
Three men were detained at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. One of them, who is in his sixties, was released on Tuesday night.
However, Mr McGreevy was brought before Judge Michael Walsh at Dublin District Court on Wednesday.
He was charged with two offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act for unlawful possession of cannabis herb and having it with intent to supply on October 16, 2018, at Kilwarden Court, in Clondalkin.
Garda Shane McHugh told Judge Walsh that Mr McGreevy made no reply when he was charged.
Directions from the DPP were awaited, Garda McHugh said.
He agreed with defence solicitor Michael French that there was consent to bail, subject to conditions.
Judge Walsh remanded the accused on bail in his own bond of €2,000 of which half was lodged in cash at the court.
He was told he had to surrender his passport, abide by a curfew and sign on daily at Crumlin Garda station.
Mr McGreevy said he understood the terms and was ordered to appear again in January.
He was granted legal aid after the court was furnished with a statement of his means by Mr French.
The court heard he worked in the transport industry.
