Two gaelscoil primary schools to be built at Colaiste Chillian

PLANS for the construction of two new three-storey primary school buildings for Gaelscoil na Camoige and Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain have been given the green light.

The schools will be located within the grounds of Coláiste Chilliain on the Old Nangor Road in Clondalkin.

The Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board submitted the planning application for the two buildings.

The proposal includes the construction of two 16-classroom primary schools, a shared general-purpose area, and ancillary teaching and staff accommodation.

The development will include two new pedestrian access routes, with one located on New Nangor Road and another located at the junction of New Nangor Road and Old Nangor Road.

A new vehicle entrance and exit onto Old Nangor Road will provide a one-way vehicle route with a bus/vehicle set down zone, and the conversion of an existing vehicle entrance to Coláiste Chilliain to an in-only entrance.

Two new hard play courts and a play space will be in each primary school, with site landscaping, bicycle parking spaces and car parking spaces.

Internal refurbishment works to Coláiste Chilliain will take place to facilitate the reintegration of teaching accommodation upon Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcain’s move to the new school.

The removal of the existing temporary changing room and relocation of the car park at Gaelscoil Chluain  Dolcain to provide accessible parking spaces and associated works is included.

The development will also consist of the construction of a new single-storey PE hall for Coláiste Chilliain.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the construction of the two primary schools, and the works to Coláiste Chilliain, on May 25.
