Two men charged after high-speed chase

TWO men have been charged and called before the court following a managed containment operation in relation to a hit-and-run in South Dublin yesterday.

Aged in their 20s and late teens, the two men were arrested on Wednesday, May 31 after being involved in a road traffic collision in Rathfarnham and fleeing the seeing before eventually stopping in Tallaght.

“They are due to appear before Tallaght District Court this morning, Thursday 1st June 2023 at 10.30am,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“The male juvenile who was also arrested as part of this investigation has been released without charge pending a referral to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.

“A woman arrested at the scene for public order offences was released without charge pending adult caution.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

The car was involved in a road traffic collision with a motorcycle in Rathfarnham which resulted in the motorcyclist being transported to Tallaght University Hospital to be treated for injuries.

Failing to remain at the scene of the collision, the car later came to a stop in Tallaght after it became involved in a collision with an official garda vehicle at this location.

The occupants of the vehicle, two men aged in the 20s and late teens, and a male juvenile were arrested at the secene.
