Two-storey extension to National School approved
PLANS for a two-storey extension to Esker Educate Together National School in Lucan have been given the green light by South Dublin County Council.
The proposal includes a new two-storey extension linked to the existing primary school consisting of a new two-classroom special educational needs facility.
The extension will also house ancillary accommodation on the ground floor and additional teaching rooms to first floor.
Associated ancillary site works to include revised car-parking layout, with a total of 31 spaces, and the demolition of the existing external and bin store with new external and bin store are included.
The new bin store is to be located near main entrance gate, while the existing bicycle shelter will be relocated next to the new external store with provision for additional bicycle spaces.
The provision of 12 sq m of photovoltaic panels to the extension roof also forms part of the planning application.
On August 8, South Dublin County Council granted permission to the Minister for Education and Skills for the extension of the school.
Esker ETNS was founded in 2007 where the school was facilitated in temporary accommodation before moving into its permanent accommodation on Esker Lane in 2014.
