Used nappies scattered across Jobstown Park

THE issue of illegal dumping in a Tallaght park was this week raised with South Dublin County Council due to the volume of rubbish dumped after the Christmas and New Year break.
After receiving a complaint, Tallaght councillor Baby Pereppadan (Fine Gael) this week visited Jobstown Park and was “appalled” by the state of the community green space.
‘Atrocious’ rubbish dumped in Jobstown
“I visited the park and was appalled by the state of the area,” Cllr Pereppadan told The Echo.
“I didn’t expect the situation to be this bad.
“The dumping is absolutely atrocious, ranging from burnt mattresses and buggies to broken bottles and further domestic waste.
“Used nappies were also scattered across the park and on the pathways.
“The area has become a notorious dumping ground with many people abusing the valuable amenity for dumping purposes.
“As a result, it has become a health hazard for the residents living there.”
Cllr Pereppadan believes that the situation has worsened following the holidays, and has contacted South Dublin County Council to take measures and remove the waste from the park as soon as possible.
