VIDEO: Horrific scenes in Clondalkin as volunteers find dead horse and another seriously injured
The mistreatment of horses in the Clondalkin area has once again been highlighted after one horse was found dead in a ditch and another was found with severe injuries this week.
On Thursday volunteers from My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR) responded to call in relation to reports of an emaciated horse in Clondalkin.
While searching for the horse they discovered a dead pony in a ditch. Volunteers believe the animal had been there for at least a week.
Nearby a distressed mare, which was missing a hoof and pedal bone was found. According to MLHR a “feeble effort had been made to treat her horrific injuries”.
In a video shared by the charity the extent of the horses injuries can be seen. At the time the mare was in severe pain, was dehydrated and starving.

Gardai were notified and a veterinary team from UCD arrived on scene to assess the poor horse’s condition.
It is believed the mare was either pregnant or had recently had a foal taken from her.
A decision was finally made to her to sleep.
Volunteers from MLHR have asked anyone with information in relation to these incidents to contact Ronanstown Garda station on 01-6667700.
