Welfare facility for bus drivers gets the thumbs up from South Dublin Council
THE DEVELOPMENT of a welfare facility for bus drivers on a parcel of land to the west of Whitestown Way in Tallaght has been approved by South Dublin County Council.
The National Transport Authority’s plans include the development of a welfare facility to contain a future bus layover which was approved as part of the D24 Neighbourhood Cycle Network Scheme.
The proposed development consists of a bus driver welfare facility comprising two toilet units, circa 6m2 each, hard standing area, and associated infrastructure.
The proposed development is approximately 0.05-hectares in size and is located on a parcel of land on the western side of Whitestown Way, adjacent to the South City Business Park.
On November 13, South Dublin County Council granted planning permission for the new welfare facility.
Conditions of the planning permission include the submission of a revised site layout plan clearly showing that the welfare facility won’t obstruct cyclists or pedestrians.
Feasibility letters from Irish Water agreeing the reduced setback distance of the welfare facilities to the existing watermain and foul sewer is also to be provided as part of the grant of permission.
The council added that all grass sod is to be removed, and grass areas are to be re-instated with topsoil, levelled, raked off and re-seeded with a grass seed mix predominately containing Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass.
