Winning projects announced from €300k Have Your Say
THE 10 winning projects for this year’s €300k Have Your Say public participatory budget were announced at a results ceremony in the Fettercairn Youth and Community Centre last week.
The scheme allows members of the public to submit suggestions for projects in their own Local Electoral Area, to a total value of €300k, and then vote on which ones to carry forward.
This year’s area is Tallaght South, which includes Saggart, Citywest and West Tallaght, with the successful projects commanding a high number of votes.
The project which received the highest number of votes – totalling 832 – is for solar panels on Killinarden Community Centre and CARP Killinarden.
Foraging and land-based skills workshops in parks attracted 824 votes, while a community wellbeing garden at Killinarden Community Centre secured 800 votes.
Bicycle repair station next to the Saggart Luas Stop is going ahead with 710 votes, Christmas lights for Saggart Village attracted 649 votes, while a heritage trail app for Saggart Village got 579 votes.
New park benches in Carrigmore Park, Citywest, received 554 votes, a public drinking water pump in Saggart Village secured 546 votes, and a native tree trail in Carrigmore Park, Citywest got 542 votes.
A total of 469 votes were registered for a Men’s Shed upgrade at the Fettercairn Youth and Community Centre.
The winning projects were announced by Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr Emma Murphy, at a ceremony last Wednesday, June 7.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Murphy said: “Congratulations to those 10 projects which now receive the allocated funding.
“The projects will now go to the relevant department within the council to be actioned over the coming year.
“The €300K Have Your Say initiative has now been run in all South Dublin electoral areas and over its lifetime, projects have been completed such as the multi-games wall in Lucan, the native tree trail in Sean Walsh Park and now 10 more projects will be delivered.
“Over the coming year you will hopefully start to see the benefits in your local area.”
