WMAI Four Nations to take spotlight in Arena
THE National Basketball Arena will, this Saturday, provide the venue for the WMAI Four Nations Karate Championship Cup.
Hosted by Wado Martial Arts Ireland, this competition, which is supported by Dublin's Outdoors (SDCC) and Failte Ireland, is back in Dublin for the second year following a very successful 2018 staging in which WMAI, with clubs in Newcastle and Rathangan, won the overall tournament.
The WMAI squad will be hoping for more home success in the Four Nations Karate Championship Cup after winning the 2018 event.
Competitors from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales will line out in Senior men and women’s events and teams kumite.
Also in attendance this year will be competitors from Poland, Germany, Northern Ireland and Italy along with clubs and associations from all over Ireland.
An ‘Inclusive’ section has also been added to this year’s programme whereby disabled athletes young and old can compete in kata (forms).
“This event I am looking forward to the most as I have seen some of these athletes in action at other internationals and they are spectacular” said WMAI President Sean O’Brien.
