
Woman saved by passerby during attempted mugging

Gardai are investigating after a woman who was subjected to an attempted mugging in Tallaght last Saturday night was saved when a passing motorist came to her aid.
The woman was reportedly unharmed and the mugging, which took place at approximately 9pm, was thwarted following the intervention of people nearby.
The attempted mugging happened in Kilnamanagh, close to the Kingswood Luas stop
According to local reports, the woman had been walking from the Kingswood Luas stop through Kilnamanagh.
The alleged mugger had the woman on the ground during the attempted mugging near the Treepark Road roundabout before a passerby flagged down a passing vehicle, local reports said.
The driver of the car came to her aid and the alleged mugger fled the scene empty handed.
According to gardai, no arrests have been made.
A garda spokesperson told the The Echo: “We can confirm an incident took place on Saturday February 18 at approx. 9pm.
“A woman in her 50s was walking in the Kilnamanagh part of Dublin 24 and was approached by a male who attempted to steal her handbag.
“The man fled the scene empty handed after a passing motorist came to her aid. Gardai conducted a search of the area.
“The woman received no injuries and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
