THE lead up to Christmas was tinged with tragedy following the death of two young mothers on December 18.
Nadine Lott (30) from Arklow died from injuries, days after an alleged assault with Clondalkin man Daniel Murtagh, who was charged in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile, Tallaght woman Annmarie Hooper, who was in her 30s, died when the car that she was travelling in struck a lamppost on Butterfield Avenue in Rathfarnham.
The other occupant of the car, Dean Coleman (24) was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Also on December 18, Ronanstown gardai arrested three males following the shooting of a man in Clondalkin – in this case the victim’s injuries not thought to be life threatening.
In better news across the county, there was numerous volunteer led events to raise funds for charity ahead of Christmas.
The biggest was the annual Laurels Cycle Crew Santa Cycle, which saw close to 400 people cycle from Phoenix Park to Clondalkin Village, raising funds for CMRF Crumlin.

An anonymous donor halted the closure of the Manna Charity Shop in Brookfield after rates of €1,200 for next year were paid, following a failed attempt by the not-for-profit to secure an exemption.
