Property Basecamp helps companies house employees

A RATHFARNHAM-based start-up, which aims to tackle a major aspect of the housing crisis, has received €30,000 in backing from the South Dublin Local Enterprise Board.

Property Basecamp, which officially launched in November 2016, helps companies find accommodation for employees – something which has become a major problem for businesses in Dublin.

Founders Tom Courtney (above), Will Mullane and Nathan McGrath, are part of the new ‘prop-tech’ breed of innovators who are changing the property market.

Speaking at the Dublin Tech summit earlier this year, Courtney said they recognised the indigenous shortage of labour and skilled workers in Ireland, which has forced companies to recruit from abroad.

“It is a real stickler to the growth of the companies that we are working with, having to relocate people from different jurisdictions, and then there is nowhere to put them,” said Courtney.

“They are putting them in hotels for weeks and months on end. It’s a real struggle for companies financially.”

The trio created a digital eco-system – the digital buddy —to provide relocating employees with the means to find a long-term, rented home.

The start-up links in with property agents to provide premium access for certified clients to find rental accommodation across all areas of the city

Funding arrives as part of a government grant from the South Dublin Local Enterprise Board to expand the venture.

Property Basecamp plan to expand their operation in the coming year, and has open positions in business development and marketing.

“The significance of providing suitable accommodation to relocating employees can’t be underestimated,” said Courtney.

“We have seen this come to the fore, especially with developments on Brexit, with the likes of JP Morgan and Barclays announcing Dublin as their new home. But we fully believe, with some innovative thinking, there are solutions that can help solve this critical issue.”
