At the pharmacy on the Nangor Road, SDCC plan to build four three-bed houses and 16 three-bed “own door” duplex units.
Local politicians welcomed the news.
Councillor Francis Timmons said difficult decisions would have to be made to tackle the housing crisis.
He said: “In the middle of one of the worst housing crisis we as a nation have ever faced, difficult decisions will have to be made.
“We have a lot of families on the Housing, Medical, Transfer and Homeless lists, we need housing and we need them now.
“It is not acceptable that a generation of children are growing up in dreadful and unsuitable accommodation.
“More needs to be done urgently. This will go out for Part 8 public consultation early this year, I would welcome any feedback on this proposed development.”
Clondalkin Councillor Trevor Gilligan said: “It is proposed that the Entrance & Exit will be from the old Nangor Road and link road with pedestrian access to the New Nangor road. SDCC is proposing 90 units at approx €200K each for an approximate total of €18 million.
“It is proposed that the public consultation will proceed in the 1st quarter 2019.
“If residents have any questions I will be happy to answer them.”
