Dublin Gospel Choir release Christmas album

TO CELEBRATE the joyful holiday, the Dublin Gospel Choir have recently released their Christmas album, and will be touring around Ireland this December.

Mandy Jackson, a soprano singer from Weston Park, Lucan, who has been part of the choir for three years, told The Echo that the choir is really fun, and that there is no better feeling than singing with so many talented people.

“When you bring all the parts together, the alto, soprano, tenor and bass, it is just really magical.”

Christmas time, according to Mandy, is when the choir really comes alive.

“Christmas is music,” said Mandy.

“It is my favourite time of the year to be a part of the choir.”

December is the choirs’ busiest time of the year, where they have a mixture of big corporate gigs, as well as smaller gatherings at masses and events.

A Dublin Gospel Christmas released November 17, features the lead single, ‘Joy to the World’, along with festive songs like ‘Born to Die’ and ‘Jesus What a Wonderful Child’, as well as emotional and nostalgic songs like ‘What a Wonderful World’ and ‘Oh Holy Night’.

Mandy, who enjoys slower and emotional songs, particularly likes the choirs’ rendition of “Now Behold the Lamb” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The choir is playing a sold-out concert at the Civic Theatre on December 10, and will also be performing at Saint Mary of the Angels Church on December 17, in aid of Capuchin Day Centre for the homeless from 8pm to 10pm.

It is a free event, where donation boxes will be available for whoever wishes to donate to the centre.

You can purchase their songs on Spotify or iTunes, or you can order their album from their website, www.dublingospelchoir.com.

CD’s will also be available for purchase at their gigs.
