Live register figures down last month

THERE WAS a decrease of just 23 in the numbers signing on the live register in March across the four social welfare offices in the county, reports Brendan Grehan.
On a National basis, the Live Register recorded a monthly decrease of 2,200 (-0.9 per cent) in March 2018, reducing the seasonally adjusted total to 233,100. The number of persons on the Live Register in March 2018 is also the lowest number recorded in the seasonally adjusted series since July 2008.
The total signing on in Tallaght rose by 49
In unadjusted terms there were 232,366 persons signing on the Live Register in March 2018. This represents an annual decrease of 34,836 (-13.0 per cent).
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 1,600 (-1.2 per cent) males in March 2018, while females decreased by 700 (-0.7 per cent) over the same period. The number of male claimants decreased by 23,135 (-14.9 per cent) to 132,581 in the year to March 2018, while female claimants decreased by 11,701 (-10.5 per cent) to 99,785.
This compares with a decrease of 30,505 (-16.4 per cent) to 155,716 for males, while female claimants decreased by 17,657 (-13.7 per cent) to 111,486 in the year to March 2017.
Tallaght
In Tallaght, the total signing on rose from 6,563 in February to 6,612 in March an increase of 49.
Among the under 25s, there was a decrease of just 12 with 895 signing on in February and 883 signing on in March.
In Nutgrove the total signing on fell from 2,627 in February to 2,560 in March, a drop of 67.
Among the under 25s there was an increase of four with 130 signing on in February and 134 in March.
Clondalkin and Ballyfermot
In Clondalkin there was a decrease of just three with 4,365 siging on in February and 4,362 signing on in March.
Among the under 25 there was a decrease of just two with 495 signing on in February and 493 signing on in March.
In Ballyfermot, the numbers signing on fell by 20 with 2,094 signing on in February and 2,074 signing on in March.
Among the under 25s, there was a drop of 17 with 311 signing on in February and 294 in March.
