‘A disgrace’ roof was removed from property near Bohernabreena reservoir

IT IS “a disgrace” that the roof was removed off a bungalow near Bohernabreena Reservoir several weeks ago, and no other work has been carried out, according to a resident, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.

A Firhouse resident who passes the bungalow on a regular basis, and who asked to remain anonymous, expressed his annoyance at the removal of the roof.

“It’s a disgrace, with the housing crisis the way it is,” he said.

“It was a perfectly good-looking bungalow, but the roof has been taken off and the bungalow’s just been left there.

“It’s as if they want it to become uninhabitable.

“They removed the roof a couple of months ago, and now the bungalow’s been left to rack and ruin.

“I noticed that they removed the roof a couple of months ago, but there hasn’t been a scrap of work done to it since then – I kept thinking that they’d put the roof back on the house.

“I think it should be returned to its original state and for a family to be put into it.

“I know it’s in an isolated spot, but a large majority of families do have access to a car and you’re not too far of a drive from Tallaght – it’s not a million miles from civilisation.”

It is unclear who owns the bungalow, and whether the Bohernabreena Reservoir and the land around it and where the bungalow is, is currently owned and managed by Uisce Eireann or Dublin City Council.

Dublin City Council was contacted for comment, but a response wasn’t received at the time of print, and an immediate comment wasn’t available from Uisce Eireann.
