KWETB’s QQI Level 6 Advanced Manufacturing Technician Program is a comprehensive one-year full-time course designed to offer a second chance in education to adults.

Our innovative program stands out by eliminating barriers based on prior education, work experience or age.

Our purpose built centre, CELTEC, operating in Celbridge since 2015 provides a supportive learning environment equipped with cutting-edge technology.

Modules on the course include mathematics, electrical principles, electronics, industrial electrical systems, pneumatics, mechanical maintenance, programmable logic circuits, communications, control systems, and robotics.

Developed in collaboration with industry professionals, the course has proven life-changing for many graduates, emphasising the success of our approach in preparing individuals for careers in manufacturing and engineering.

With multiple intakes of this courses annually and a maximum class sizes of 16, the course caters for career changers, early school leavers, those who left college early, the unemployed, those wishing to re-enter the labour market or those seeking upskilling opportunities.

A distinctive feature of this courses includes the 12 week work placement, emphasising the program’s practical, hands-on nature. KWETB provides professional learning materials, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, allowing learners to dedicate 60% of their time to hands-on skills development.

From building and troubleshooting electrical circuits to performing mechanical maintenance, from programming PLC’s (programmable logic circuits) to robotics.

Learners acquire a strong foundation in the multidisciplinary technologies involved in automation and advanced manufacturing.

The practical nature of the course often leads learners to surpass the expectations of themselves.

Successful learners have landed roles with major tech and pharma companies such as Intel, Applied Materials and Pfizer.

An impressive 90% securing employment in the advanced manufacturing sector.

The program, described by learners as life-changing, provides financial security, drawing employers to the CELTEC centre to hire graduates.

The course is a welcomed collaboration between industry and the further education sector with Intel’s Vice President, Neil Philip describing it as “a prime example of how industry and education and training can work together to shape the provision of future skills”.

Graduates attain a qualification positioning them for rewarding careers in advanced manufacturing, offering pathways to various sectors such as pharma, computer chip manufacturing, and furthermore, contributing significantly to Ireland’s globally recognised excellence in advanced manufacturing.

The next course is commencing 17th June 2024 and has a limited number of places remaining.
