Restricted visiting at TUH due to Covid and Norovirus cases
VISITING hours at Tallaght University Hospital have been restricted due to an increase in Covid-19 and Norovirus cases in recent days.
The hospital said it is closed to visitors with the exception of prior arrangement with a patient’s medical team or in the circumstance of end-of-life or critical illness.
Restrictions also include no visiting anywhere on the hospital campus i.e. inside or outside the hospital or in the car park.
The hospital will run a Patient Care Package service for patient’s families to drop or collect items from a patient.
This service will run from 2pm to 4pm daily. Outside of these hours, family members can go to the main reception and staff will contact the ward directly.
In a message issued on Monday, the hospital said: “Due to the increase in Covid and Norovirus illness in recent days Tallaght University Hospital has introduced restricted visiting.
“This is to protect our patients, their families and our staff.
“Visitors that attempt to visit will be turned away by security.”
The hospital added: “We regret the introduction of these measures, but they are necessary for patient and staff safety as the hospital continues to manage a number of positive and suspected positive Covid-19 combined with cases of Norovirus [vomiting bug].
“Outpatient clinics are not impacted, we would ask anyone who is due to attend the hospital for an appointment, does not to attend if they have any symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, Covid-19 or Influenza or have been in contact with anyone with Covid-19.
“The hospital wants to thank the public for their ongoing support of our efforts to keep Covid and Norovirus out of our hospital”.
The activity at Children’s Health Ireland at Tallaght is not impacted by this announcement.
