Accused of pouring boiling water on wife
A CLONDALKIN man accused of pouring boiling water on his wife after punching her in an alleged domestic assault is facing trial.
The accused allegedly threatened to kill his wife if she went to the gardai, Blanchardstown District Court heard.

Judge Brian O’Shea refused jurisdiction to deal with the case and remanded the accused on continuing bail to a later date for the consent of DPP for a return for trial.
The man is charged with contravening a safety order taken out by his wife and assaulting her, causing her harm at their home on October 6, 2020.
The charges are contrary to Section 33 of the Domestic Violence Act and Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
On an earlier date, the court heard it was alleged the accused breached the order on the day in question and physically assaulted his wife by punching her in the back of the neck and “connecting with her left eye”.
The prosecution would also allege that he threw boiling water over her left leg and threatened her that if she went to the gardai he would kill her.
The man made no admissions when detained and questioned, the court heard.
When the case came before Judge O’Shea, Sergeant Maria Callaghan said the DPP had directed summary disposal of the case if jurisdiction was accepted.
She gave an outline of the allegations again, after which the judge said he was refusing jurisdiction on the assault charge.
The same allegations cover the domestic violence charge but that is summary only, the court heard.
Judge O’Shea adjourned the case to June 2 for the consent of the DPP to be given for the man to be sent forward for trial to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The accused did not have to be in court and his solicitor Simon Fleming consented to the adjournment.
