Acko releases single number 10 this year
“SINGLE number ten of the twelve I’m releasing in 2025,” remarks Tallaght-born singer-songwriter Acko Atkinson regarding his latest single, ‘Your Bus Isn’t Coming’.
This is the latest installment of his series in 2025, where he releases a new single from his upcoming album each month to promote its eventual release in 2026.
“I’ve had the title for this song in my head for a long time; I used to joke that it would be the title of my autobiography (maybe someday).”
The song itself came together very quickly; Acko built it up over the course of an afternoon from a drum loop and a synth riff.
The lyrics are mostly fun with words but there was “some truth in there somewhere.”
The B-side ‘Took’ is about unexpected bouts of feelings that can strike at any time, but somehow inspiration can spring from them.
Previous singles Acko has released this year include ‘Don’t Talk’, ‘Railroad Question’, ‘Chocolate Full of Lies’, ‘No Short Cuts’, ‘A Song for Veda’, ‘Never Be So Young’, ‘That Spark’, and ‘Motorway Song’.
As with the songs listed above, ‘Your Bus Isn’t Coming’ and its B-side, ‘Took,’ were written, recorded, mixed, produced, and mastered by Acko at DV Audio in Wexford.
He also provided vocals, guitar, and programming, while Noel Quaid contributed bass.
‘Your Bus Isn’t Coming’ is available from Bandcamp and all of the usual streaming platforms from October 17.
