Away from the Shore – Aaron set to release his second single of the year

FOLLOWING the success of his first single of 2024, ‘Don’t Take It All,’ which captivated listeners and earned features with Hotpress, RTE, Radio, local papers including The Echo, and much more, Tallaght singer-songwriter Aaron Nestor is set to release his highly anticipated second single of 2024, ‘Away from the Shore’ on June 21.

This track is the title song of his upcoming EP, which will also be released on July 25.

To celebrate, Aaron will be performing at an exclusive EP launch concert at Whelan’s Upstairs venue on the same day in July.

The single ‘Away From The Shore’ captures the essence of Nestor’s latest artistic exploration, blending experimental songwriting with rich electronic instrumentation, yet still very much guitar-based as he strives to do.

The song still has great poppy hooks, showcasing Nestor’s ability to merge innovation with accessibility.

“This track is my favourite song on the EP,” Nestor shares.

“It really sums up the vibe of the entire project, giving me the freedom to be creative and truly follow my instincts in the studio.”

The new single builds on the momentum of ‘Don’t Take It All’; a track that showcased Nestor is one to watch in the Irish music scene.

The song’s success in reaching diverse audiences and gaining notable media attention underscores his ability to create a sound distinctly his own.

The EP ‘Away From The Shore’ promises to be a compelling collection of tracks that reflect his growth and evolution as an artist.

The EP launch concert at Whelan’s Upstairs venue on July 25 will not only celebrate the release of the new music but also provide attendees with an opportunity to experience the songs live in an intimate setting with a full band.

This week, we sat down with Aaron to discuss the upcoming single and EP releases.

How long has the EP ‘Away from the Shore’ been in the works?

I’ve been working on ‘Away from the Shore’ for a couple of years now.

It’s been quite a journey.

Filled with exploration, experimentation, and a lot of personal reflection.

This EP marks a significant milestone in my musical career because it captures the evolution of my sound and my growth as an artist.

When I started this project, I wanted to create something true to who I am as a musician and something that would resonate with listeners on a deeper level.

The process has been long, but every step has been worth it, and I am incredibly proud of the final result.

Were there any challenges involved in the production?

Absolutely, Like any artist, I faced a lot of challenges along the way.

One of the biggest challenges was balancing the experimental aspects of the songwriting with electronic sounds while still keeping it very guitar-based, like I wanted.

I decided to start pushing the boundaries with new music by exploring new sounds and being open to anything, yet I also didn’t want to lose the essence of my songwriting.

I wanted to be able to strip these all back to an acoustic guitar and have them still sound great—which I think they do!

There were moments in the studio where I had to make tough decisions—decisions about what direction to take a song in or how to blend different elements together.

I like a lot of different genres of music and didn’t want to have a folk song leading into a dance or metal track; maybe one day I will do that.

Another challenge was ensuring that each track on the EP had its own identity while still contributing to the overall theme and vibe of the project.

This required a lot of fine-tuning and sometimes going back to the drawing board.

I didn’t take it too seriously and allowed myself to be creative, which ultimately made the project stronger.

Are there any tracks on this new EP you particularly enjoyed making?

Without a doubt, ‘Away from the Shore’ is my favourite track on the EP.

It really captures the essence of the entire project, which is why I chose it to be the title track.

The process of making this song was incredibly rewarding because it allowed me the freedom to fully express my creativity.

This track sums up the vibe of the EP: it’s about breaking away from the familiar, exploring new territories, and embracing the unknown.

The melodies, the lyrics, the instrumentation—all came together in a way that felt very natural and authentic.

When I was working on it, I felt a deep connection to the music, and I think that comes through in the final version.

It’s a song that gives me chills every time I listen to it, if that’s okay to say about your own music?

I hope it has the same effect on some listeners too.

I am happy with the way it makes me feel either way.

What is next for you after the EP launches?

After the EP launches, I’m really excited about sharing my music with as many people as possible.

The single ‘Away from the Shore’ is out June 21st, 2024, and the EP ‘Away from the Shore’ is out July 25th, 2024.

I will also be playing a headline show in Wales that same night.

One of my top priorities is to perform live as much as I can.

There’s something magical about connecting with an audience in a live setting and seeing their reactions in real-time.

I’m planning to embark on a tour to bring the new music to different cities and hopefully reach new fans.

Additionally, I plan to play at some of the Irish festivals in 2025 and hopefully get across the pond for some shows.

In addition to performing, I want to continue writing and exploring new musical directions.

The creative process for ‘Away from the Shore’ has opened up a lot of new possibilities for me, and I’m eager to see where it takes me next.

I also want to collaborate with other artists who inspire me.

There’s always something new to learn and new ways to grow, and I’m excited about the journey ahead.

The plan is to stay active and enjoy myself.

Who would you like to thank for helping with ‘Away from the Shore?’

There are so many people who have helped bring this project to life.

Firstly, I’d like to thank the guys at Beardfire Music Studio.

Their support, creativity, and input have been invaluable throughout this process.

They really helped bring my vision to life. I’d also like to say a huge thanks to my friends and family.

Their unwavering belief in me and constant support are really the reasons I am able to express myself in this way.

They’ve been with me through the highs and lows, and I couldn’t have done this without them.

Every note and every lyric is a testament to their support.

In summary, “Away from the Shore’ has been a labour of love and a journey of growth.

“The challenges and rewards of creating this EP have been immense, and I am grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey.

“I’m excited for what’s next and to continue sharing my music with the world. “
