Businesses raise concerns over the €2m park project

THE Echo understands that a number of businesses have raised concerns around the proposed development of a new walkway connecting Killinarden Park and Sean Walsh Park.

It has been proposed as part of the €2m Killinarden Park masterplan to provide new green infrastructure and an amenity corridor along Whitestown Stream connecting Killinarden Park with Sean Walsh Park.

This proposed ‘amenity corridor’ will run past the Whitestown and South City business parks as it travels towards Sean Walsh Park.

As detailed in the design concept, it is an objective of the Tallaght Town Centre LAP to ‘connect parks and areas of open space with ecological and recreational corridors to aid the movement of biodiversity and people and to strengthen the overall Green Infrastructure network’.

This objective includes the provision of cycle and pedestrian routes to facilitate ‘ease of access’ around the Tallaght Town Centre.

When contacted by The Echo, Peter Byrne, CEO of the South Dublin Chamber said: “We have members in both business parks who are looking for more details.

“Businesses want assurances that the park is safe and secure, questions like that…which are legitimate questions.

“We’ll gather up the views of businesses and bring it to South Dublin County Council…the good and the bad.”
