Citywest Covid-19 test centre moves to new base in Tallaght

THE Citywest Covid-19 test centre is today, January 21, moving into the unit once home to Marks & Spencer in Belgard Square North.

There are no changes to the location of the Citywest vaccination service, which will remain at the convention centre.

Based in Citywest for the past 16 months, the test centre completed 361,203 swabs since opening on September 3.

In a statement issued, the HSE said: “This service has been provided thanks to the continued commitment of the team including HSE staff, agency staff, volunteers, Defence Forces, the National Ambulance Service and all the contractors working with the HSE.

“We are grateful to the management and staff of Citywest Hotel and Convention Centre for accommodating the Test Centre for the past 16 months, and who continue to work with the Covid Vaccination service, which will remain in Citywest.”

Car parking is accessed to the test centre on Belgard Road North, across from TUH

From Friday, January 21,  all testing will be done in the new centre in Tallaght, which has 20 testing bays and underground car parking, accessed from Belgard Road North.

Tricia Nolan, Manager of the South Dublin County Volunteer Centre, told The Echo this morning that more than 400 volunteers have supported the testing and vaccination centre at Citywest since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are currently 200 active volunteers, who will support both the new test centre in Tallaght and the vaccination programme in Citywest.

The test centre is located on the left,  in the building with glass frontage 

The test centre in Tallaght, which is located at Unit 1, Alexander House, Belgard Square North, is by appointment only at this time.

Signage has been erected in the area and volunteers will be on hand to direct those attending for an appointment.
