GARDAI are investigating the discovery of a suspicious device, which was left under a car in Clondalkin this morning.
The discovery was made on Shancastle Park – off the Fonthill Road – at approximately 9am on Monday.
Residents in the immediate area were evacuated and an army bomb disposal team arrived on the scene shortly after 10am.
A garda spokesperson said the “device wasn’t viable” but they are investigating the incident.
A local resident told The Echo residents had no idea what the fuss was about when gardai arrived on the scene.
“The thing was wrapped up in plastic outside a couple of houses,” he said.
“We have had some anti-social trouble in this area before with a pipe bomb a couple of years ago.
“Gardai were evacuating residents and waiting for the army to arrive. The roads were cordoned off – this is the last thing any estate needs.”
