Council allocations support unit carry out 296 actions
STAFF from South Dublin County Council’s allocations support unit carried out a total of 296 actions in relation to council tenancies in Bohernabreena, Firhouse, Templeogue and Rathfarnham last year.
The majority of these actions, totalling 58, were in the form of house calls and inspections, and there were also 39 formal interviews held with tenants both in the office and by phone.
The team carried out 26 pre-tenancies, including follow-up tenancy checks, while six warnings were issued, and five surrenders of tenancy were obtained by the local authority.
These figures were released as a part of a wider anti-social behaviour report that was presented at a meeting of the Bohernabreena, Firhouse, Templeogue and Rathfarnham Area Committee last week.
The council received 64 complaints relating to council tenancies in the area last year, including nine incidents of violence, harassment, and intimidation.
There were seven reports related to the physical condition of properties, five reports of squatters and illegal occupiers, four reports of vandalism, and three reports of neighbour disputes.
There were also three instances of noise/disturbances reported to the council, three reports of drug activity, and two instances of pet/animal nuisance.
In 2021, the council received 22 complaints relating to council tenancies in the area, however this number increased to 64 in 2022.
