Emergency services and Luas crews are working on restoring power to parts of the red line after a truck damaged overhead power lines earlier this morning near the Belgard stop.
Traffic is very heavy on all roads approaching the crossing, and motorists are advised to take care in the area.
Severl units from Dublin Fire Brigade are currently on the scene.
According to Luas operators, tickets are valid on Dublin Bus, and they plan to run an alternative bus soon.
In a statement the operators said: “Please be advised there is no service between Red Cow / Tallaght and Saggart due to a fault with the overhead cables at Belgard.
Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus. Alternative bus service will be in place soon. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The disruption follows a stoppage on the line yesterday when a tram and car collided at Fettercairn.
