Crime spree highlights risks to the local gardaí

A “FRIGHTENING” and upsetting crime spree in Lucan on Friday – during which five people, including a Garda, were injured – highlights the risks local Gardaí are undertaking on a daily basis.
Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald TD, this week commended the actions of Gardaí, one of whom was injured in the fracas, for detaining two people in relation to the incidents.
Between 9.30 and 10 on Friday evening there were a number of incidents near Castle Riada Drive, including two attempts to hijack cars, a robbery and an assault.
