Crossing request for Esker Road
By Echo Reporter
ESKER ROAD could be in line for a pedestrian crossing following a question tabled by local councillor Vicki Casserly at last month’s Lucan Area Committee meeting of South Dublin County Council.
Cllr Casserly asked the council for a further update on previous motions which request “That the Chief Executive arrange to install a pedestrian crossing on Esker Road by Arthur Griffith Park in 2016.
“This measure is essential to improve safety for school going children on the main walking route coming from Griffeen Avenue to the three local schools.”
The council replied that “the matter has been included for examination as part of the Pedestrain Crossing programme. When the examination has been completed a report will issue to the Traffic Management Meeting”.
Cllr Casserly welcomed the response from the council. She told The Echo: “There are a large amount of children in the Esker parishes who use the road. It is a very busy road. We need additional safety measures here.
“I would be happy to have an additional traffic warden or a zebra crossing. It’s not an issue I’m willing to let drop.”
