Dancing and romancing for St Joseph’s College

By Maurice Garvey

THE magic of Strictly Come Dancing has taken over St Joseph’s College in Lucan, with staff, students and parents currently preparing for their big night in the Green Isle Hotel on this Friday, October 28.

Training commenced in September but the names of dancers and couples were kept under a cloud of secrecy, which has generated interest and excitement on campus as students guess which teachers are taking part.

Teachers and students taking to the dance floor are doing so for a variety of reasons. Some are doing it for fun, while others are anxious to help the school with much-needed fundraising, with a few secretly fulfilling their desire to be a dancer.

Participants have been practicing each Monday night since returning to school, with some of the more eager couples practicing on Fridays after school to gain the edge on their dance rivals.

Behind the rivalry, there has been an incredible atmosphere of humour and support amongst the dancers, who are all looking forward to sharing their skills with the community this Friday.

Tickets are €20 for adults, €10 students and €50 family tickets (two adults and two students).

Contact the school for ticket information on 6281160 or email stjosephslucan@gmail.com
