Darkness Into Light and NINA Sunrise walks taking place in Tallaght this Saturday
THE sun rising over Tallaght on May 6 will be seen by hundreds of people this year as a Darkness into Light event and a Sunrise Walk take place in the area on May 6.
Now in its ninth year, the Pieta House Darkness into Light 5km walk or run started in 2009 with 400 participants, with the event growing to more than 130,000 people in 2016.
This year, for the first time, a Darkness into Light walk will be staged in the area on May 6 and will start at 4.15am from the Naomh Jude Clubhouse on Wellington Lane.
In recent years, community-led, Tallaght service, NINA for Life suicide awareness has held a Sunrise Walk in Tallaght to coincide with Pieta House’s Darkness into Light, as there was no walk locally. The NINA for Life Sunrise Walk will continue this year and will meet on Saturday, May 6, at 4am in the Kingswood Community Centre, with the walk starting at 4.15am.
Registration for NINA’s Sunrise Walk is €15 per adult and €8 per child, and includes the walk, a t-shirt and breakfast roll with tea and coffee after.
