AMAZON Web Services (AWS) is continuing to support Technological University Dublin-Tallaght to offer scholarships to selected students taking on the university’s Data Centre Technician Programme.
This programme has been designed to prepare students for a career as an entry-level data centre technician. Students will also have an opportunity to gain real hands-on experience with paid work placements on offer with AWS.
Successful completion of the programme will place students in a strong position to start their careers in the cloud! A proficiency in IT would be advantageous.
Applications for next year’s intake are now open and we strongly encourage anyone with an interest in the future – and their future – to apply.

“Before joining the programme I had only finished my secondary level education. I’d completed Computer Science as a subject in my leaving cert and this gave me a huge insight into the world of computers. I knew I wanted to go into a career in IT but I was unsure of where and how to start.
“Then I found this opportunity. My favourite part of the programme was being able to come into the internship with a little bit of knowledge in the physical department of IT and then being able to complete daily work tasks which developed my skills.”
Csaba
“I would recommend this programme for anyone, both those who have some kind of IT background but also those without any IT experience. The team at TU Dublin and AWS have strong experience and are incredibly patient with students.
“If anyone is considering applying for the programme and is hesitant, I would encourage them to overcome their inhibitions and give themself a chance at a new career. Everything is possible if you put your mind to it.”
Ryan
“I had little to no IT experience or knowledge so everything about the programme and internship was completely new to me. I had multiple jobs over the years which included working in An Post, as an apprentice electrician and working in retail in a grocery shop.
“I knew I needed to try something new but just didn’t know what exactly and then I heard about this programme. My favourite part of the internship was the opportunity to expand and develop my skills in an area which I previously had little to no experience. The internship gave me skills which I had never possessed before and allowed me to enter the IT sector.”
BingBing
“I graduated with a BA in business accounting so I don’t have an IT background. Over the last few years I’ve been at home looking after my family so applying to the programme was a big step for me.
“Now I’m working as a Data Centre Technician but this is my first ever job within the IT industry. I think anyone who enjoys working with a great team of people and enjoys a role where they have the opportunity to keep learning and improving their skills should apply for this programme.”
