Duration of planning extended for 28-unit residential development
THE duration of planning permission for a 28-unit residential development at the junction of Main Street and Boherboy Road in Saggart has been extended.
The applicant, Tiejun Hui, secured planning permission for the construction of one one-bed, 16 two-bed and 11 three-bed apartments and two retail units across four blocks in May 2019.
Last March, they submitted a planning application seeking to extend the five-year duration of the planning permission they had previously been granted before it lapsed.
The applicant said that a number of factors had impacted on bringing the development to completion, including the pandemic and a need for archaeological work to take place.
It was noted in the application that work on the scheme had commenced in November 2023, and two apartment blocks had been completed to roof level.
The foundation has been laid for the third apartment block, while construction is to commence on the fourth block before the original planning permission expires.
The applicant requested a two-year extension of planning permission from South Dublin County Council until August 2026 to allow them to complete the development.
On April 24, the council granted permission for the extension of planning permission with a number of conditions.
These conditions include the expiry of the planning permission on August 21, 2026, and the requirement for the applicant to comply with the conditions listed in the original grant of planning permission.
